Mornington Peninsula
A beguiling wine that is revered here at Montalto. Initially this wine appears fragile and delicate with expressive aromatics. The palate shows sweet red fruits with some subtle darker characters of chinotto and Amaro liqueur. There’s a little spice, dried herbs and tea leaf combining for a savory mid palate that is then absorbed by bold pumice stone tannins. There is a fruit and tannin interplay at work here that should not coexist, yet this unique site makes it both possible and formidable.
